As the son of a U.S. Air Force pilot, Chuck grew up in places all over the world but spent several years in Sumter, South Carolina where he graduated with honors from Sumter High School in 1988. He attended Auburn University where he received his professional degree, a Bachelor of Architecture in 1993, graduating Cum Laude.
He worked for Ellis, Ricket and Associates Architects in Valdosta, Georgia during summers while at Auburn and then full-time for two years after graduation. After getting married in November of 1994, Chuck and his wife Wendy relocated to Mobile, Alabama where he worked for John Dendy and Associates. After a return to Valdosta and Ellis, Ricket and Associates, they moved to Atlanta where Chuck worked for Thompson, Ventulett, Stainback and Associates (TVS). In June of 1999 he joined Collins Cooper Carusi Architects. After five years he started NodusLLC with Greg Mullin.
During his 11-plus years of experience, Chuck has worked on a variety of building types including educational, religious, medical, institutional, recreational, residential, and retail. His experience includes masterplanning, new construction, renovation, and historical preservation. While at Collins Cooper Carusi, he managed multiple projects for Holy Innocents' Episcopal School and Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church - including a 70,000 square foot classroom building and a 35,000 square foot gymnasium. In recent years he has also worked with the University of Georgia Athletic Association, the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia, the Georgia Department of Technical and Adult Education, the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta, as well as several other private sector clients.He is a registered architect in the State of Georgia. Chuck and Wendy have three daughters: Bailey, born in September 2001; Josie, born in September 2003; and Piper born in February of 2008.
